Sheffield Barry was founded in 2015 to provide a different approach to HR advisory services. Our Principals collectively have 35+ years of experience advising clients on Executive Compensation, incentives, total rewards, and other HR issues.
Over the course of our careers, we have found that (a) data has become a commodity, and (b) many of the same analyses of such data are duplicated with a few minor changes. At Sheffield Barry, our focus is providing the most common analyses to clients using a standardized approach to optimize efficiency. By automating our most common processes, we can spend more time on our clients’ unique business issues and customize our advice and recommendations, often faster and usually at lower cost than other consulting firms.

Ryan Compaan is Founder and Managing Principal of Sheffield Barry. He has over 20 years of experience in compensation consulting and HR advisory services.
When he isn’t working on client issues or building Sheffield Barry, he is father to two boys, tinkerer with technology, and aspiring darts player.
Katy Mayer is a founder, Principal and CTO of Sheffield Barry. She is responsible for technology development and analysis automation for client projects. Katy spent three years working with Ryan in compensation consulting prior to joining Sheffield.
She is a professional ballet dancer six months of the year, and surfs, teaches, and codes when not building Sheffield Barry.
Josie Rothwell is a Principal of Sheffield Barry focusing on client delivery and key marketing projects.
She is an accomplished compensation professional with over 15 years of experience in consulting and in-house roles, most recently in banking.
She has two beautiful children and plays the mandolin in Americana duo Peasant Moon.
